While I was out driving today I saw a shredded American flag. I remember when the person put it out about four years ago and left it hanging on the pole.

Why did this particular old flag give me cause to think about the symbolism? About the same time it was put out, the homeowner put out a Trump sign. I haven’t seen the Trump sign for several months. Now I must admit I don’t know what happened to the sign or why nobody has replaced the flag, but it struck me it was symbolic of what Trump has done as President.

During the last three and one-half years, he has shredded the fabric of our country. I am not speaking of the recent protests although they might not have happened if he hadn’t been trying to divide us for his own political purposes. I can’t think of anything which could visually explain what is going on in America today. The flag’s condition is so bad it can’t be sewn back together. The only way to fix the problem is to get rid of the old one and replace it with a bright new one.  It requires a lot of work to care for a flag or the melting pot of ethnics and races.

I think that is what we all need, a bright new start with all of us realizing a shredded America is not good for the world or for us. Let’s hope we will all be cheering our new flag.
