A bit of history about the Ukraine and Russia gives some idea why the Ukrainians hate Russia. When Russia’s royals got killed and the Communist party was born, the Ukraine was mainly an agricultural country which Stalin pushed into collective farms; He took most of the crops and starved millions to death.
When the Germans invaded the Ukraine thousands of Ukrainians joined the invaders wanting to fight the Russians. Since the German’s didn’t trust them to fight the Russians, they were moved to fight in the west. They manned the Western Wall and were against the Allies on D-Day and a few other encounters.
After the war we turned any that had surrendered to us over to the Russians. Few survived the Gulags (labor camps) in Siberia. The Ukraine was the first nation to get their population increased by Russians being moved into their country.
The Ukraine was one of the countries that caused the breakup of the Soviet Union. Putin wants to reform the Union but under a name he wants which is why he wants NATO out of the old USSR countries and the occupied countries that were behind the Iron Curtain.
The previous Ukraine government was allied with Putin. He was run out of the country because of it. The Ukrainians hate Putin and Russia and do not want to be taken over by him. Putin has annexed the Crimea and supported the rebels on the border. Russia has taken parts of Abkhazia for his 2014 Winter Olympics.
Hitler wasn’t stopped and WWII happened.
