If the Supreme Court can ban a weapon from being brought into their building then the Second Amendment is violated by the Courts. Village, City, Township, County, State, and Federal offices and buildings ban weapons from being brought inside with a sign. Most of these places have metal detectors to make sure no weapons are brought inside the building.
Now in the Illinois Courts there are laws prohibiting the possession of certain types of weapons in cities. They are not keeping people from owning most other types of weapons.
The state should argue in defense of the law on two points. One is the constitution does not define what an arm is so the term must have limits or else machine guns, anti-tank weapons,
or future laser weapons would be allowed. A logical limit must be necessary. The signers were limited to three weapons: cannons, knives, and muzzle loading rifles and pistols.
Commonsense laws must be enacted to keep all guns from people with mental problems and those who have shown a history of violence and threats to do violence. The laws should also define exactly what weapons and magazines are able to be owned. Heavy fines should be levied against those who have those items judged to be illegal.
