What is the GOP Hiding?

            I think the reader should know where my assessment comes from in order to see my viewpoint today. Wyoming’s GOP Representative Liz Cheney is the daughter of the most manipulative Vice-President in history. Vice-President Chaney let Bin Ladin get away so he could start an unnecessary war with Iraq. He conned Bush II and much of the world into thinking Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. He and Liz threw her lesbian sister under the bus to get elected. I don’t like their ideas of nut cake politics BUT her search for the truth on the insurrection at a personal cost gets my admiration and support.

            I never supported Adam Kinzinger when he was a county big wig or as a congressman. His ultra conservative views are for the dust bin of history and have led to the political darkness America is in today. I don’t know if he has seen where we are headed as General Milley and millions of not so gullible Americans have for several years. I have often compared the last four years to Germany’s early history with Hitler and his sycophants. Maybe the January 6 insurrection opened his eyes to the fact the GOP has been taken supported and covertly led by anarchists. The core group was children of the John Birch Society. However, even they became scared of Trump and put their support into Biden while still helping other Republicans. I support Adam Kinzinger.

            A Hero is someone who at great personal cost does something they swore to do. Today that is what Cheney and Kinzinger are doing on the select committee to expose the truth about who planned, aided, supported and directed the insurrection!

A Well Regulated Militia

            John Hanson was a Grundy County Lawyer who argued with me over the boundaries and intent of the Second Amendment. John was a strict constitutionalist when it suited him… but cherry picked his points and often ignored history in making his point.

            My argument was the words in the second amendment, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” At the time many political people were under the illusion the militias had won the Revolution, not the Continental Army. Many didn’t want an army controlled by someone who could become a king so they thought if each state had a militia the army would not be a threat. (The melting of the miltia before the Capitol in the War of 1812 changed that perception.)

Back when each state could call on men who had trained to march, shoot, stand in line in front of an enemy, and follow orders from their officers. That was what well-regulated means. Today we call that group of men the National Guard. In Israel, the guard is supposed to take their equipment home and go directly to their muster areas with everything they need to fight. Our guardsmen leave their weapons at the armories.

John’s side won in the Supreme Court on a 5-4 decision based on a letter written by minor character in the Constitutional committee. The letter suggested something different than the precise words written. The government’s attorney did a poor job of defending the Constitution allowing the mess we are in. What is a limit on arms? Is it a flintlock or a machine gun or a RPG? Can Congress limit the pieces bought over the internet making a semi-automatic an automatic or limit magazine capacity?

Remember the words well-regulated and militia!

Is It Too Late?

            An advertisement for a new series asks if this is the beginning of the end. What an interesting question when we see what is going on with global warming.

            Today’s news was forest fires in the Western states, flooding in Omaha, heat waves in the east and west, depressions in the Atlantic that might become hurricanes, and recovery from previous floods in the Eastern states.

            The international news covered the fires in Italy, Greece, and Siberia. There was a brief replay of the recent floods in Germany and North Korea. The international temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere were still extremely high and those in the Southern Hemisphere which is supposedly in winter are barely cool.

            We have known for decades burning fossil fuel was causing the world’s climate to heat up but greed and some inconvenience has prevented stopping the rise. The Republican Party is still trying to obstruct the science from being dispersed by firing scientists and disbanding departments that release the facts. It may be too late but they are protecting industries pumping more CO2 into the air.

            Eighteen of the last twenty years have been the hottest on record. Imagine how hot the next 50 can be. If it is too late to stop the rise then we may be turning Earth into an uninhabitable Venus!

More Kool-Aid

            How many Americans can be conned by the “Big Lie”? Probably about as many that believed Vice-President Cheney’s lie about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction. Some media that had dug for the the truth instead of putting out the lies and purposely distorted data were excoriated by the administration that knew the truth. Sound familiar?

            The “Big Lie” is even more of a con job on the weak-minded than Iraq. Most of the media – not Fox – has been using the truth to try to kill the “Big Lie” but those who have drunk the Kool-Aid can’t see the truth. They can only be lead by the nose to believe in the “Great Delusion” created by Trump sycophants who want a dictatorship.

            Maybe the select committee’s work can get through somehow. The right wing media and the yellow belly GOP are going to do everything they can to lie, distort, and divert attention from the truth about the insurrection and exposing those behind it.

            I am a farmer but my land has been hit by two hurricanes which washed away part of my land’s soil and landslides dumped rocky worthless soil and rocks on the rest. My house was destroyed and two of my children were lost.

            Since I couldn’t farm any more I moved the rest of us into the city. Most of my surviving neighbors went too. We tried to find good jobs but unemployment was already high so I could only get an occasional low paying day job. They barely pay the rent on the shack we could afford. We often go without a meal so the kids can have something each day.

            My sons go to school but the way to school is through several gang territories. They are often confronted with the gang members saying join or die. Many of the older kids have run away, hid, or died because they didn’t want to join. Murder and kidnapping are common. The people can’t help the honest cops who are brave enough to try to apprehend the criminals for fear of being the next victims. Judges often let the gang members off because they know gang threats are real.

            The gangs that were exported from Los Angeles to my country have as much control as the corrupt government. They are vicious killers with no regard or compassion for the people.

            What would you do if you were that person? Would you take your family to a safer place or at least send your children to a safer place? This story is what has happened to tens of thousands of Central American families.

A Real Act of Patriotism

            This letter is for those people who want to use the Constitution and amendments to defend their views. The problem is they must not have read it or are reading wacko conspiracy websites that are misusing it.

            The point many readers are missing is when you elect someone they swear an oath to the real Constitution and not to you. Those Senators who voted against the results of the election did not follow their Constitutients or the Constitution. They voted for a dictatorship.

            Those Senators and Representatives who promoted the January 6 insurrection or have tried to down play or hinder the investigation aren’t doing their Constitutional duties either. They are being complicit in the criminal aspects of the insurrection. As the investigation continues, we shall hear many reasons to hide their involvements and flip-flops.

            As for Adam Kinzinger, he has sworn the oath in the Military, County and Congress. I am very sure he can recite every word from memory and what those words mean. It means the Constitution wins over an attempt for a dictatorship or conspiracies about the election.

            As for those against the mandates for masks, maybe vaccines, and lockdowns, read the Preamble as the reason for the Constitution. It plainly says “promote the general welfare”. It means the government is supposed to keep us healthy.

            A talking head on CNN conducted a poll on whether a person should pay more for health insurance if they have not taken the vaccine. The hospitalization costs can be more than any heart surgeries. Thousands of Covid 19 patients have hospital bills of hundreds of thousands to over a million dollars.

            If a person has health insurance and the company picks up most of the tab, it will need to recoup that loss by raising the premiums on the rest of that pool. Additionally, the number one reason for bankruptcy in America is medical bills. Who pays if insurance and the patient don’t? Tax payers do. It could be through Medicare or Medicaid but the tax payers are to pick up the tab for people not getting the shot.

            If I have insurance and have high blood pressure I will pay more than someone with normal pressure. If my occupation or hobby is dangerous I will pay more. Why shouldn’t some stupid person who refuses to take a shot to keep them and others from costing the rest of us money be liable in some way? Maybe they are the link in a chain that kills someone.

            I am tired of hearing the absolutely stupid and inane reasons for not getting the vaccine. How stupid does a person have to be to think the vaccine has GPS transmitters in it or sterilization, or genetic destruction, or some other wild unbelievable reason? Oh, of course, the Trump sycophants seem to forget Trump had the virus and still demanded the shot before he left the White House. The poll was 91% yes to 9% no.

            I didn’t catch the name of the doctor who was saying the virus suppression had become political to the detriment of all of us. He explained the more unvaccinated people that get it the more likely it will mutate into a strain that will overcome the current vaccine. The Delta is more easily transmitted and attacks younger people than Alpha which hit in 2019. Lamda ,which originated in unvaccinated Brazil, is more dangerous and may be able to crack the current vaccine causing boosters to be needed.

            Why are the far right people telling people lies and spreading distrust of the Biden administration’s effort to save lives? The idea is to try to damage Biden’s effort for getting people vaccinated. If they can keep the hospitals and funeral homes full they think it will damage Biden’s popularity. Those people don’t care about the stupid and ignorant suckers who follow their advice.

            Today Senator Rand Paul actually told his people to not get a shot or wear a mask to show their personal liberty. When those people die so he can raise his popularity it is called cannon fodder. Go forward to die so the General can win the battle. Those people will die so he can make his run for President.

Rabin for Trash Collection

            How can anyone in today’s world come up with the idiotic ideas, misinformation and lies that a GOP candidate for Illinois Governor has said. Gary Rabin, from Bull Valley, actually said that the Covid vaccines were never approved and thousands have died from them. Mark Maxwell, Nexstar Media Group’s Capital Connection kept correcting him but Rabin just continued. The next day Rabin’s campaign chair called in to backtrack on the comments.

            Rabin said he fully supported Trump but neglected to say Trump was vaccinated before leaving the White House; He said the vaccine has killed 6,000 people.

            This guy thinks he should be Governor just because he wants to be a Trump lapdog. Oh, the answer to the question of how he could believe such crazy conspiracies and lies is obvious since he pushes the “Big Lie” for Trump.

            What will be the dominant species on this planet in a few million years? A few little mammal species survived the last extinction when the dinosaurs lost their position as the top of the heap. The first dominant creatures were aquatic, then reptilian, now mammalian, and then what – insects?

            Why wonder about what will replace us? We are destroying this planet with global warming. If we can’t get it under control in the next few years most animal species won’t exist. Cockroaches have always been the presumed survivor after a nuclear war and they like warm areas.

            If we can’t cut the increase and turn it around, Earth will become superheated like Venus. Venus used to have a climate similar to ours before the volcanic activity put gases into the air. They heated the oceans putting lots of moisture into the air causing more heat to be trapped. Does that sound familiar? Our CO2 is acting like the volcanic gases and our atmosphere is carrying an increasing amount of moisture. We call Venus’ condition “runaway global warming”. Could we be in the early stages of the same condition?

            The time to act was decades ago when the problem was easier to correct. It now will demand greater and more abrupt changes in our behavior. Are too many people and businesses more concerned with politics and greed than saving all life? Is it already too late for all life to exist in another thousand or so years?
