            The Trump supporters say the criminal investigation into the Trump organization’s tax evasion and fraud is because of politics. They are partially correct because they couldn’t continue their investigation while he was still President.

            While Donald Trump was President he could keep the tax records concealed since the IRS was controlled by his people. Barr was Attorney General and most of all; Trump could pardon himself, his family, and his employees of any federal crime. The state investigation would have died since the power of the White House and his appointed judges would have stopped it.

            The investigation paused for most of Trump’s term, but it started long before he was nominated. Was that the reason he ran? These charges are just looking at the tip of the iceberg on taxes. They are only one branch of investigations going on by states and the federal government for numerous crimes committed by the Trump organization, his family, and Donald Trump himself.

            Will the sycophants and gullible people continue to support someone who is an adulterer, liar, conman, and the object of so many investigations by people of both parties? Will being in his political circle be a liability?

            A thoughtful person can really blow their minds by thinking what would have happened if something else had happened. We all know General Mead defeated Lee by defending Cemetery Ridge. What if he had let Lee have the Ridge without his artillery, extra ammunition, food, and water? It would have been a huge prison camp because his supply train was miles away.

            What if Mayor Daly’s car had been t-boned as it came out of his parking lot killing him before the 1960 Presidential election? Would Nixon have won then before he became paranoid?

            What if English private Henry Kent decided to shoot Adolph Hitler during WWI instead of letting him go? Would another person have been able to cause Germany to rearm and start WWII?

            What if Roger Ailes had not been able to convince a few rich right wing Republicans they needed to create a huge rift in America and in particular within the GOP. The idea was to cut out moderates like Bush I. Would someone else have gotten Fox News and it offshoots started? Would Trump have ever been considered a candidate?

            Imagine how America would have not changed if two Supreme Court Justices had voted to count the hanging chads on the ballots giving Florida and the Electoral College to Gore?  Gore would have continued to try to kill Ben Laden and would not have gone into Iraq again.

            How many times in your own life could you have come to a fork in the road and could have taken the other road changing your life?

            I got the shot twice, one in each arm! Supposedly there is a smaller chance of a reaction if the shot goes into each arm. Few people get any reaction to the Pfizer vaccine. I may have gotten a rash in an area a bathing suit covers. I don’t know if I was overly tired the day after because I did a lot of digging which I am not accustomed to doing.

            People get a reaction to many vaccinations, foods, and environments. People take a vaccine with a tiny potential chance of a slight reaction to avoid the probability of a big reaction to the disease. Most people run their lives that way. They buy insurance for their home, car, and for their families, even life insurance. Getting a Covid shot is offering some insurance against getting sick. Getting the second shot and maybe a booster is full insurance.

            Nation after nation thought it had herd immunity revising its rules only to find the new variants are worse. Since the seniors are mostly vaccinated, the mutations are going after young adults and kids.

            People who are not yet vaccinated risk their life, those around them, and people they never met. The virus may decide to mutate in their body into something the vaccines won’t give them or the vaccinated protection.

            People talk about patriotism but aren’t brave enough to get two shots? Don’t wrap yourself in the flag when you can’t take two painless shots.

Got Water

            In the movie “Sahara,” Humphrey Bogart was trying to get the Germans to surrender by pretending to wash his head while water was poured over him. The Germans hadn’t had water for days and surrendered rather than die of thirst.

            Why is that scene relevant? Think of today’s droughts in the Southwest. For decades people have been moving to the Southwest, first for retirement and then for work. In many cities in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Utah, and Nevada, homeowners are paid to tear up grass and go with desert plants and no grass. This is done to save precious water.

            Lake Mead is at its lowest level ever and this is summer when the snow should still be melting. This year was even less than the past few years. The drawdown has been more than the snow pack for decades with climate change causing extreme constant drought.

            We have known for years that much of our fruit and vegetables come from the area irrigated by the Colorado River coming from Lake Mead. Irrigation water is already being reduced to save it for people. Which brings us back to Humphrey Bogart getting the Germans to come to him… The upper Midwest has lots of lakes and rivers to support people moving from the Southwest. T. Boone Pickens has bought the Aquifers under many Colorado Valleys because “one day water will be more important than oil.”. That day may be here!

            Here are the facts about Q Anon. The NSA has tracked down who started the anarchist website. They are James and Ronald Watkins. It would be difficult to find two more despicable people. They make their money by creating and selling Asian pornography. Many years ago I saw a documentary on porn and Asian porn was the most violent involving torture, rape, and murder.

            The father-son team was extremely good at creating hate speech on the internet before they invented Q Anon. Their adherents are angry gullible people who ignore facts and what they can see and hear from responsible people who aren’t in the Q Anon silo. Once these people see the truth they have said it must be like brainwashing. The Watkins has been successful in their efforts to not only start the brainwashing but to get other like-minded people to continue it. How the Watkins could create so many unbelievable conspiracies that weak-minded people could base their views on is unfathomable. One example is the elites are running a child abduction, torture, and blood drinking group. Oh, yes, they do Asian porn.

            Hopefully time will overcome the brainwashing and the adherents will see truth. Another factor is Microsoft says about half the conspiracy sites are Russian and Putin loves to divide America.

            As of Monday, June 13, the United States had 273 mass shootings with 305 dead and 1,144 more wounded since January 1, 2021. This doesn’t count the many hundreds wounded with three or less shot in one incident. Nor does it count the kids shot from finding a loaded gun.

            Is it possible that most dangerous place on Earth is the United States? We may have more assault weapons than any war torn country. These weapons have only one use and it isn’t hunting animals so why do we need millions of them. Aside from the gun lobbyists and manufacturers conning people into thinking they need at least one for protection, websites tell a macho need or scare people into thinking some conspiracy.

            It is easy to see how we got into this crazy mess but how do we get out of it? Guns are in the hands of gang bangers, crazies, and sane people. A large percentage of those guns are in illegal hands.

            One way is to make any sale or gifting of an assault weapon illegal with stiff fines and jail terms. For those already out, a thousand dollar a year permit with a fine equal to ten years of permits for not renewing the permit. Permits are required for some guns now. Permitting assault weapons would merely put them in the legal class with other war type weapons.

            Las Vegas and many school and store shootings show Congress needs to get a pair and stop these massacres.

            Israel was portraying itself as the victim before it became a country. In fact, they kicked out the peoples who had lived there for over a millennia. Their claim involves a twisted and fictitious history wrapped in religion.

            According to Israeli archeologists Pharaoh Ramses II had an ongoing spat with the Hittites in today’s Turkey. Ramses II wanted to expand south so he needed to protect his flank. He paid a terrible bloodthirsty tribe to relocate to the area between the Red Sea – the same Tidal swamp Moses would cross generations later – and the Mediterranean. They stayed there until their leadership became concerned the people were losing their warrior culture. They had become doctors, lawyers, teachers, merchants and other professionals. They had become embedded in Egypt’s economy and culture. After getting away they split up into groups to produce and train as many warriors as they could. One soldier went with each group to train the kids.

            While protecting the Pharaoh and becoming “Egyptians” they worshipped the Pharaoh and the other gods. It was long after they crossed the Reed Sea, but before they came off the Golan Heights, when they started to adopt their current religion.

            When they came off the Heights they slaughtered the people and their animals, leaving nothing alive. After those, they expanded by more killing or threatening surrounding tribes.

            The above historical facts were in documentaries by Israeli Archeologists sponsored by their government. The small far right religious party in Israel is the power broker deciding who might be Prime Minister. Netanyahu has allowed them to build on Palestinian lands and kick families out of their homes. The latter is the cause for this war. The far right has built on land Israel designated as Palestinian. Our constitution prohibits the taking of land without due process. Netanyahu allowed it just to stay in power. No wonder the Jewish communities are split over policy.

Research and Common Sense Needed

            The Chicago Tribune ran another article about jet noise. (It reminds me of a real estate deal with a small manufacturing company that repackaged gases to make aerosol propellants.) Because of the possibility of a fire or an explosion, the company was built miles from subdivisions. However, developers kept building houses until people lived across the road and plans were to cross the road surrounding them with houses.

            Just like with the airport, people complained about the possibility of fires and explosion. If they were that concerned, why buy the house in the first place? O’Hare airport has been a jet port as long as the airlines had them and today’s jets are quieter than the 707’s and 747’s of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

            People buy houses in the floodplain and complain about having to pay for flood insurance until their home floods. Then they complain about government not doing something. It did! It told you not to live there! People are moving to drought stricken areas of the West and Southwest and wanting precious water for grass, trees, and pools.

            What happened to “look before you leap?” How about a little research and common sense? Planes are noisy and deserts are arid, DUH!

They Don’t Understand

            What is the end of the attempt to obliterate all references to our country’s Indian past? I can’t ask Sarah, my Great Great Great Step-Grandmother who was a Cherokee how she feels about all this commotion concerning Indian names. Incidentally, of all the plains and Southwest Indians I have asked what they felt as their preferred designation, only one Sioux didn’t like Indian. He liked the term “First American”.

            All said they were proud to be remembered of their past instead of being forgotten. If we eliminate all references to them it will be like being forgotten. Being the name of a sports team relates to their history of competing with other tribes.

            How far are the extreme minority activists going to push their complaints? Illinois and several other states are named after tribes along with numerous cities and towns. Is their next objective to get all those places to change their names?

            Most of the people who are looking to change the names have no Indian blood in their veins they just want to help on the train or maybe they just need to complain about something. These people will move on to something else in a while. Maybe it will be the Confederacy, race, gender or something else. It will probably be something they get off the internet and will never fully understand.

GOP Morass

            I watched a documentary on how the GOP got to be in the morass it has found itself. I am old enough to remember it started with Barry Goldwater. Before, and for some time afterwards, both parties worked together to make the necessary laws and to investigate when necessary.

            Here is where the GOP went off the tracks and put America into the divisive situation we have today. Goldwater was an Arizona Senator who helped to make reading the Constitution a requirement by any brown skinned person. He gave credence to the “Jim Crow” laws used in the South by racists. Lincoln may have been the first Republican President but the party spawned the Ku Klux Klan and kept racism going. When Lyndon B. Johnson signed the XXIV amendment and other voting laws the racist Democrats went to the GOP swinging the South to Republican.

            The Republican governed states are once again scared black and brown people might flip their states so they are passing laws designed to keep them from voting. The state’s officials claim it is to prevent voter fraud but they certified after the election there was no fraud and Trump lost.

            The Republican Party has become a racist party in fact, and no longer is trying to hide it. Their choice is to keep blacks and browns – oddly not Asians – from voting or leave their racist radical supporters. We know which they have chosen.
