I don’t know what the future holds for Adam Kinzinger but I sincerely hope it is not obscurity in some think tank or a university. Will he be one of the leaders who helped to bring our nation away from the divisive road that Trump and others have put our country on in the last few years?

            Will Adam show other politicos that an office holder can be honest and do what they believe is good for the country as a whole and not for a greedy corrupt few? I believe he and others like him can dispel the belief that our government is against them. Maybe they can reduce the conspiracy sites on social media by reducing their gullible audiences.

            One day soon those county and state Republican committees who have condemned Kinzinger and Liz Cheney will see they have made a huge mistake. They condemned them while supporting a crooked, lying egotist who has no qualms about throwing friends, supporters, and the country under the bus. Trump has done it many times but his loyal but gullible supporters seem to overlook the truth.

            I seldom agree with both Kinzinger and Cheney but Americans of all parties should support their efforts to right this. Let these two brave Americans know they are not alone in trying to put the ship back on course.

            If I broke into your house and damaged something, I bet the charge is going to be a felony. I bet if I tried to overthrow the government, it would be a felony. If I invaded your house and tried to harm you, I bet it would be a felony. Let us change the “I” to all those people who broke into the Capitol Building January 6. They are being charged with misdemeanors. How do a bunch of insurrectionists get off with a slap on the wrist?

            The cost of repairing damages from the attack on the U.S. Capitol and related security expenses have already topped $30 million and will keep rising, Architect of the Capitol J. Brett Blanton told lawmakers.

            If we don’t want this, or maybe even worse, happening again, they should be charged just as you or I would if you or I would break into someone’s house. The Capitol Building should rank higher than someone’s house on the importance chart so the level of the crime should be higher, not lower!

            The sentence should be at least one year behind bars and a fine of over $10,000 plus court costs with the money going to repair the damage and the clean-up.

            The Sixth Amendment gives the accused the right to a speedy trial. Steve Bannon decided not to testify before the Congressional January Six Committee instead of taking the Fifth Amendment protection of self incrimination as others have done. Of course, choosing to do so indicates you think you committed a crime.

            It only took a few weeks between the Grand Jury indictment to trial and three hours to conviction. The penalty for avoiding testifying is a maximum of two years and $200,000 fine. The judge is holding off sentencing for over two months. Why the wait? Is he hoping that some politically controlled appeals court will overturn his conviction or keep delaying carrying out the sentence until the committee dissolves in January and a potential flip of the house could maybe get the subpoena revoked and maybe override the reason for the trial?

            My opinion is Steve Bannon was one of the people who helped to incite, if not aid, the insurrectionists. He was one of the people who kept telling Trump he won while his Justice Department, Staff and children said he lost. If I were the judge Bannon would get the maximum in a medium security prison. He warrants being made an example of what can happen to those who do not cooperate.
